Alright, let’s jump right in! After reading this blog about how to get oil out of silk, you will discover that removing unsightly oil stains from silk is easier than ever.
How do you get oil out of silk fast?
We can buy some baby powder! Baby powder is awesome at tackling fresh stains especially. Sprinkle a sufficient amount of absorbent powder evenly on both sides of the surface. We only need to wait for 10 minutes before gently brushing off the powder with a soft brush.
If oil stains are difficult to remove, you may also consider using the following methods:
Food-grade carbonated soda. Similarly, take epoxy resin soda and sprinkle it evenly on the stained area to ensure complete coverage, and then give it enough time to absorb, usually, it will be effective in about 1 hour. After it works its oil -absorbing magic, gently wipe the powder away with a clean soft cloth and you will find that the stains miraculously disappear!
Of course, if you feel that none of the above methods are suitable for you, you can continue to try the following methods. I can find a small amount of ordinary toothpaste from home to remove those nasty oil stains. Just apply it to the stain with a cotton swab and let it sit for 5 -10 minutes. Toothpaste helps gently break down oils and pigments. Then rinse it with clean water. In addition, choose ordinary toothpaste and try not to use a toothpaste containing bleaching particles to avoid damaging the silk fabric.
You can also try a vinegar solution. Diluted white vinegar can slightly dissolve and emulsify grease. Dip a cotton swab into the vinegar solution to moisten the stain, then rinse with water after 3-5 minutes. Warm water soap solution can also remove stains, but the concentration should not be too high.
However, after testing all the methods on the market for removing oil stains, the one I often use is food-grade baking soda. Just spread evenly over the stains and you’ll have them removing the oil stains in no time. Why do I like this method? Because it’s Made entirely from food-grade components, it is mild enough to use on the most delicate textiles. Moreover, it’s inexpensive and readily available both online and in stores.
